My project for STEM foundations is the storybook project. For this project, we had to work with a partner to make a book for 3rd-5th graders. We had to include an illustration technique we learned in STEM Foundations to put in our story. Either pencil, drawn by pencil, collage, made all out of paper, or watercolor, all painted out of watercolor. For this project, we first had to learn how to do the three illustration types. So we went around to different centers to try out each one then we pick at the end which we wanted. Then we had to make our pictures and scan them to a power point so we could make our book. We learned about how pencils have different names like 6b depending on what shade you need. We also learned about watercolor and how there is dabbing and blowing to make texture.

The biggest challenges of the storybook project were working with my partner because we did not get along at all and getting our work done because we kept messing up. To overcome the problem of me and my partner not getting along is that we just put our differences aside and just worked on the project so we could get a good grade. The way we overcame the challenge of not being able to get stuff done because we keep messing up is that we just slowed down and took our time so we didn’t have to do the attempts. The things we learned in class that we had to implicate in our story books are illustrations and how to use power point. We had to implicate our understandings of the illustration techniques for the storybook project because we had to know how to do it so that we could make an interesting book for the children to read. We had to implicate our learnings of how to use the power point because we had to do everything in power point that we wanted to be in our story books.

My first artifact is the picture of the alarm clock that we had in our story. I used this artifact because it was the picture that we had the most drafts on because we kept trying over and over again to get the pictures perfect and at the end, it came out really well. I would say I grew in persistence with this artifact because we did tons of drafts on this picture and we had to keep changing the little buttons at the bottom that say radio, volume, on/off, etc. because we kept trying to write it on the picture with a sharpie but then we found out we could just put it in on the PowerPoint. We also kept trying to get the outline of the alarm clock perfect but we kept messing up over and over again because we kept painting it to wide but then we just used the paper cutter to chop the extra parts off. And persistence is never giving up and just keep trying over and over again.

because we had to communicate together to see where we wanted the fox to say and how he would be positioned. Communication is talking with a peer to solve a problem. The communication my second artifact is the draft of our fox in the story. We chose this draft because we had to think of ways to draw a good fox because neither my partner or I could draw a good fox so we thought outside the box of ways we can make a fox that you can tell it is actually a fox. I would say I grew in
