9th Grade Transitional Essay
When I first started 9th grade I would procrastinate a lot and just blow off my homework. I thought that it wouldn’t make my grade drop that much. During this year I did 3 projects that really helped me get over my habit of procrastination. These projects were the Native American mascot debates, the car project, and the graph art project. These projects really helped me get over my habit of procrastination because I knew how much they were worth and how it would affect my grades. This helped push me to get my work done right when I needed to. I also felt a lot of pressure taken off my shoulders because I would always worry about my work last minute but when I do it right away then it’s out of my mind. I used this for all my assignments because I know that if I do it right away then I can relax. This really prepared me for 10th grade because I won’t start of the year with missing assignments because I will know the reward I get when I do it right away.
in this year was the Native American mascots project in US History. To me, excelled means that you understood the content and showed it in the project. I think I easily showed what I knew in this project. For this excelledThe project I really project I was put in a group with 3 other people. Then we had to debate about why Native American mascots should be banned or not. My group got assigned to the side that is against Native American Mascots. Then we had to do research about why the mascots are offensive and find statistics to back up our claims. 2 artifacts that show I excelled is a highlighted version of our groups opening statement and a highlighted version of out closing statement. These artifacts shows how I took the knowledge and statistics I knew and how I was able to incorporate it into the statements. I think I was so successful in this process because we had practice arguing earlier in the year during the mock trial in Language Arts.
this year was the car project in Engineering. For this struggledA project where I really project we were grouped up with a partner. We had to choose a model car and put a model of it onto CAD, which is an online modeler. We had to measure each of the parts on our car and put it into the program. After we made all the pieces then we had to assemble the car. My 2 artifacts are my final assembly and the parts we drew on paper. These really showed how much I struggled because on the papers that we drew the parts on, there are a lot of mistakes that we had to cross out because me and my partner didn’t communicate very well. On the final assembly you can see that I didn’t get all the pieces together. I really struggled during this because I didn’t use the class time a lot and I was unfocused.
the most this year was the graph art project in Algebra. For this grewA project where I project we had to use equations to make a famous picture out of lines. My 2 artifacts for this project is my list of equations and my final picture. I grew a bunch during this project because I had to force myself to understand the stuff we were learning in class. This is an important growth because I can use that skill for any assignment that I don’t understand.
